August Picnic
The Pack 107 Picnic will be held at 6:00 pm, August 18th at Madiera Park. If you haven't RSVP'd yet, please do so now.
Patriot Day was signed into law on December 18, 2001 as a day to remember the 2,900+ people who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks on our country. Please fly your flag at half staff in their honor. Also lookout for the issue of a Presidential Proclaimation.
The F-22 and the Thunderbirds are back again. If you haven't seen the F-22 thrust vectoring its way across the sky, you should come see the show. I highly recommend public transit over driving your car and parking. The first year we waited 2 hours to get in and park.
All Leaders in Pack 107 must have proof of Leader Specific training. See Andy Haug to make sure you are recorded as being trained for your position. Registration Closes on the 18th.
Leader Specific Training: Training offered includes Tiger Cubs, Cub Scout Den Leaders, Pack Committee, Pack Trainer, Cubmaster, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout Leader and Venturing. Registration Cost is $7.00. Please bring notebook and material for your program.
Please help collect flags for the Eternal Flame Weekend and volunteer to help out. Everyone can help. I have seen quite a few flags flying that are tattered, torn, faded, or otherwise damaged. Approach those businesses/homes and retrieve flags for the retirement ceremony. Hundreds of flags will be properly retired at the Eternal Flame Weekend. This provides an excellent opportunity to learn more about the flag, how to display it, how to handle it, and how to retire it. For Webelos I/II, this weekend counts as an overnighter required by the Outdoorsman activity badge. The entire family is invited to come. Class A uniform is required for the ceremonies, and the Class B is recommended for other activities.
Our first Pack Meeting of the 2009/2010 Program Year will be held at the PAC at 7:00 pm. The uniform is Class A. Parents, please make sure that your Den Leaders know what achievements have been completed by your Cub by the thursday prior to each Tuesday Pack Meeting. Don't forget to include twilight camp achievements, electives, belt loops, and pins. The entire family is invited to attend.
Join thousands of Scouts from 14 different councils deliver the State of Scouting in California Report to the Governor Oct. 24th, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. The march will start at Raley field and travel 1.2 miles to the Capitol Mall. Signups must be made in advance through the GEC website. If traveling with someone other than a parent, a Tour Form is required.
Every leader or assistant leader, committee chair or committee member, Cubmaster and assistants and chartered organization rep. should at least take the online Youth Protection Training available online and the Leaders Essential Training, which is only a couple of hours. The next level, which is often available on the same day or next day, is Leader Specific Training - check the list of what is offered, but certainly all Committee Chairs, Cubmasters & Assistants, Leaders & Assistants should take this training - it usually takes 3-4 hours. Training leads to a safe fun environment for the boys and provides time-saving resources for the leader/coordinator. To sign up for training, go to the Golden Empire Council website and signup online.

The November Pack meeting will be held Tuesday November 17th at 7:00 pm sharp. The Bears will be setting up the room and presenting the flags.

Cost: Children - Free, Women - Free, Active Duty Military - Free, All Others $45/dy, $70/wknd

This event is designed to train beginners and advanced shooters in the proper handling and firing of rifles. Unlike range shooting from benches, students will learn to shoot from prone, standing, and sitting positions and in the use of the rifle sling to brace the shooter. The event starts at 8:30 AM and runs until 4:00 PM. For those new to the event, I recommend going on Saturday. In addition to rifle skills and safety, you will learn something about revolutionary war history. The best rifle to use for the event is a .22 caliber and they will have some available to borrow at no cost for those that don't own rifles. The event will be held at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center.
Signup for the event here.
This is not a Pack 107 sanctioned event and is provided FYI. Do not wear your Cub Scout uniform.

Jacques Littlefield began restoring historical armored vehicles in 1975, and grew his collection into one of the largest collections of restored armored vehicles in the world. Mr. Littlefield passed away recently, but the work of the foundation has not stopped. We are fortunate to live a driveable distance from the collection and they have offered to give us a tour. The facility is not open to the general public except through organized tour groups of approximately 30 people.

If you know of boys that meet the membership requirements, please invite them to our next Cub Scout Roundup at 6:00 pm, Tuesday, August 24th for some fun, games and BBQ. The Cub Scouting has started. The uniform will be Class B, the time will be 7:00 PM at a new location. Held at Mather Field, conveniently located 10 miles from the heart of Downtown Sacramento, the 2 day event will amaze children and adults alike with entertainment in the air, on the ground and everywhere in between! Oct. 15-17th Eternal Flame Flag Retirement Weekend
Please bring flags to retire at this year's Eternal Flame Flag Retirement Weekend. Old and worn out flags will be respectfully burned as a service to the community. If you see a flag that is worn out, please stop and ask if you may take it and retire it properly.
Youth protection training is now required for all registered adults. This represents a change from the previous policy of requiring training for all leadership positions. All adults must complete the training. Fortunately, the required training is available on the internet at no charge. To take Youth Protection training go to www.MyScouting.org and create an account or follow these instructions. It only takes about 30 minutes to complete the training once you find it.
The facilities dues will be rolled into the monthly awards and activities dues collected by the Registration Coordinator. The total monthly dues will therefore amount to $12 per cub per month. The Pack Committee is working on decreasing this amount for next year. If you know of facility that you think the Committee should look into, please let the Cubmaster know.
It's that time of the year again. Please see the uniform link to see what you'll need and for a link to the Scout Shop's location. We still have a Wolf neckerchief, and two Pack 107 t-shirts available. We need more blue class A shirts and associated items. Please donate your Cub's old uniform items to the clothing closet. Also, every year we have a few Cub's that could use a helping hand to cover some of the costs associated with Scouting. See registration or the Cubmaster to make a small donation.
